The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #2883 of Cresaptown held a dinner and the Installation of their Officers for 2024-2025 at the Eagles Aerie on McMullen Highway. The Installing Officers were Past Madam Presidents Shirley Kane and Cathy McKenzie. We read four applications for new membership for the month of October. We initiated five new members on Tuesday, October 24th.
On Sunday, October 1st, we held a Spaghetti Dinner to benefit Breast Cancer Patient’s Assistance Fund of the Schwab Family Cancer Center. Chairman Kathy Hare thanks all the Sisters that volunteered their time to make this endeavor a success: Melissa Barley, Kelly Bothast, Amanda Croson, Karen Hamilton, Stacy Hitchins, Tanya Kessell, Lilly and Woody Lee, Evelyn and Arianna Loar, Kistion Mauzy and Janet Nicol.
We celebrated our 55th Anniversary on October 15th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. We recognized our Charter Members and Dora Jean Buchanan was present to be honored. The following Past Madam Presidents were also present and honored: Shirley Kane, Cathy Cecil, Kathy Hare, Carolyn Helmstetter Maryon Phillips, Cathy McKenzie, Janet Nicol and C. C. Foote. The celebration was followed by a dinner hosted by the Auxiliary.
On Saturday, October 21st, The Auxiliary sponsored a breakfast at the Aerie Home from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. The proceeds will help the Auxiliary support their charitable works. Hekpers were: Dora Jean Buchanan, Cathy Cecil, Kathy Hare, Mary Lynn Hawkins, Carolyn Helmstetter, Evelyn and Arianna Loar, Janet Nicol, Maryon Phillips, Beverly Warnick and Marianna Woolard. We will join with the Cresaptown United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, for our Annual Community ”Trunk or Treat” event in the Church parking lot.. Witches and goblins will be treated to candy, food and snacks.

Scholarship Awards 2022
The Maryland State Fraternal Order of Eagles has established a Scholarship Foundation to provide assistance to deserving students to help them further their career interests. Aerie and Auxiliary #2883 of Cresaptown were fortunate to have two of their entries receive $1,000 monetary awards. The recipients were: Madelyn Cook of Allegany High School, planning to attend Allegany College of Maryland, majoring in Psychology. Madelyn is the Daughter of Andrea and Josh Cook and the Granddaughter of Christina Hall and Susan Love; Madison Pratt of Allegany High School, planning to attend Allegany College of Maryland, majoring in Human Services. Madison is the daughter of Kate and Scott Pratt and the Granddaughter of Michael Pratt.

Auxiliary Winter Clothing Drive...
The Auxiliary would like to thank each and every member that donated to our tree of warmth. There were 115 hats, 70 pairs of gloves, scarves, and socks donated. We had some monetary donations and used that to purchase diapers. These items were delivered to our local Union Rescue Mission & Women’s Shelter. Thanks to our members for supporting yet another important project for our local community, we could not do these things without You ! “People Helping People “

Due to illness of some of our members and Officers, our regular membership meeting was cancelled on December 8th. The Officers did meet for an informal dinner and meeting (see picture) and transacted some year-end Auxiliary business. We held a regular meeting on December 22nd, when we enjoyed a “soup and sandwich” supper before discussing reports on fundraising events and finalizing payouts to several of our Charities. Thanks to all the Sisters who supplied and prepared the delicious food.
Marianna Woolard, Chairman of the Durante Chilldren’s Fund, Prevention of Child Abuse and Child Aids Awareness, reported on the recent Rada Cutlery Sales. The total proceeds were $800. The Fund will receive $500, Auxiliary President’s Project Alzheimer’s Association $150 and Fran’s State Project, Kenny’s Hope for Childhood Cancer will receive $150. Marianna thanks everyone who placed orders and those Sisters who helped in the distribution.
Madam President Debbie Powell helped organize a Ham Dinner to benefit her Project, Alzheimer’s Association, on Sunday, December 13th. It was a successful day and 153 meals were sold. The event raised $1,282.18 for the Project. Thanks to the following Sisters for donating their time in helping to make this happen: Kathy Hare, Tanya Kessell, Janet Nicol, Tami Grimes, Dora J. Buchanan, Deb Buchanan, Cathy McKenzie, Maryon Phillips and Marianna Woolard.
After a postponement of the drawing date, the following winners were randomly pulled by Aerie and Auxiliary members attending the Jackpot Saturday Night, December 19th: $200 MD Scratch Off Lottery for Kenny’s Hope – Charlie Spiker;
B & B Gift Cards for Alzheimer’s Association - $50 Jim Portmess; $50 Taylor Buchanan; $100 Marianna Woolard; $200 Rebecca Stewart. Madam President Debbie Powell thanks everyone who participated in these two projects that will benefit two very worthy charities. Because of all of you, we continue to be able to be an organization of “People Helping People.”

We held a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 11th, but due to the pandemic virus, we met at the pavilion of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church. Masks were worn and social distancing was observed. Prior to the meeting, a catered Dutch Treat picnic was enjoyed.
We were able to hold a meeting at the Aerie Home on Tuesday, August 25th, again practicing all recommended restrictions.
Although the State Convention was canceled, the Golf Tournament was held and the Auxiliary prepared a lunch of hoagies for the participants when they returned to the Aerie Home. Kitchen Chairman, Kathy Hare, thanked the following volunteers for their assistance: Debbie Buchanan, Dora Jean Buchanan, Maryon Phillips, Debbie Powell, Beverly Warnick and Marianna Woolard.
Since our fundraising efforts have been curtailed due to the virus, Tami Grimes and Maryon Phillips have announced a “Bakeless Bake Sale” will be held, with letters being distributed to the membership. Donations are to be sent to Maryon at 14700 McMullen Highway SW, Cumberland, MD 21502, from August 13 through October 31, 2020. If successful, they will again request donations for a “Holiday Bakeless Bake Sale” November 1 through December 15, 2020. Please consider sending in a donation so that we may continue our charitable activities as we are “People Helping People.”

We are all saddened at the passing of May Resh. May was an Auxiliary Charter Member and a Past Auxiliary President of Cresaptown Eagles Auxiliary and a friend to many members of Cresaptown Eagles. Services are at the Scarpelli Funeral Home on McMullen Hwy Friday December 29th from 4 to 7 PM. The members of the Auxiliary will conduct their Memorial Service Friday night at 7 PM. Funeral Services are at the Funeral Home Saturday, December 30th at 11 AM, Rev Harold McCLay officiating.

Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Donation
2016-2017 Madam President Cathy McKenzie's charity has been Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Association and through her committees efforts as well as the officers and members of #2883 were able to make a donation of over $7000, congratulations!! The Auxiliary hosted Grand Madam President Judy Johnson this past weekend. GMP Judy participated in a Cornhole Fund Raiser then went to dinner with the Auxiliary members and came back for cake and check presentations for her charities!

CCFA Benefit Cornhole Tournament and Balloon Auction
This event was held to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. The Cornhole event hosted two tournaments and the winners of both events donated their winnings back the cause. The balloon auction was fantastically supported by everyone and was a lot of fun. Hopefully we will be able to round up some more pictures..........
October, Sunday, 16th, The Auxiliary Celebrated its 2016 48th Anniversary. The celebration was held from 2 - 4 PM. Charter Members, PMP's and all paid up members were invited!
